Rare Baseball Cards and Memorabilia Auction

Huggins & Scott is gearing up to host a thrilling auction that will send baseball memorabilia enthusiasts into a frenzy. Featuring an impressive lineup of over 1,600 lots, this event is a treasure trove for collectors seeking legendary pieces of baseball history. The star of the auction is none other than the T206 Sherry “Magie” error card, a prized possession among the renowned ‘Big Four’ of the T206 series.

The T206 Sherry “Magie” card stands out due to a unique printing mistake that misspelled outfielder Sherry Magee’s name. This error was swiftly corrected, resulting in the rarity and high demand for these misprinted cards. Alongside iconic T206 legends like Honus Wagner, Eddie Plank, and Doyle NY Nat’l, the Magie card holds a special place in the hearts of baseball card collectors worldwide.

Adding to the allure of this exceptional auction are three recently unearthed 1910 Baltimore News Orioles cards. These cards are a part of a scarce schedule-card set that predates the 1914 BN set, famously known for featuring Babe Ruth’s rookie card. This discovery marks a significant moment in baseball card collecting, offering collectors a chance to own a piece of previously undiscovered history.

The pre-war highlights up for auction include coveted cards such as a 1934 World Wide Gum Babe Ruth (PSA 3) and Lou Gehrig (SGC 3), an 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Mike “King” Kelly (SGC 6), an 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter John Montgomery Ward (PSA 6), and a 1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Honus Wagner (PSA 4). These pieces capture the essence of baseball’s rich history and serve as prized possessions for avid collectors.

For those interested in post-war baseball cards, the auction offers a diverse selection of notable pieces. Standout items include a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card (PSA 3), a 1948-49 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie (PSA 2), Hank Aaron’s 1954 Topps rookie (PSA 6) and 1955 Topps (PSA 8), a 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax (PSA 7), and a 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews rookie high number (PSA 4). Additionally, a 1961 Topps set with 524 autographed cards of the 572 in the collection will be available for bidding, along with signed memorabilia from baseball icons like Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Roberto Clemente.

Bidding for these remarkable pieces of baseball history is already underway and will close on Thursday, April 4, with initial bids ending at 9 PM ET. This auction offers a unique opportunity for collectors to own a piece of baseball’s storied past, with a wide range of rarities and memorabilia that cater to even the most discerning enthusiasts. Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this exciting auction and potentially add a piece of baseball history to your own collection.
