SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Highlights George Mikan Suit

SCP Auctions is gearing up to showcase an impressive array of sports memorabilia in their upcoming Spring Premier auction. One of the standout pieces featured in the catalog is the only known George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, signed by the basketball legend himself. This one-of-a-kind item, complete with a jacket and pants bearing Mikan’s signature, comes with an LOA from Sports Investors Authentication and is expected to command a price tag of over $400,000.

Known for his pioneering role in basketball, George Mikan’s memorabilia, particularly game-worn items, are highly sought after by collectors. In addition to the Mikan warm-up suit, the auction will also include a selection of prime vintage baseball cards. Highlights from the vintage card collection include a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, two 1952 Topps Mantle cards, a 1963 Topps Mantle SGC 9, and a rare 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig SGC 9, with the Gehrig card projected to surpass $150,000 in value.

Fans of Pete Rose will be thrilled to discover the second-ranked master set of his cards up for grabs, following SCP’s previous sale of the top-ranked set last autumn. The auction will also feature a variety of notable Shohei Ohtani cards and memorabilia, such as the jersey worn on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023, anticipated to attract six-figure bids, as well as Ohtani’s 200th career home run ball.

Among the other standout items on offer are two pairs of game-worn Michael Jordan shoes, a Roberto Clemente cap, a Ronald Acuna Jr. photo-matched jersey, and a signed Tua Tagovailoa jersey from 2023. The auction will also present high-end jewelry pieces including a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals belonging to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship ring.

Additionally, collectors can look forward to bidding on Kobe Bryant’s game-worn and signed shoes, a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a Ted Williams game-used bat, a 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autograph, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, multi-signed baseballs featuring early Hall of Fame inductees and Yankee legends, and a wide range of historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With a catalog boasting over 400 lots, the auction is set to commence on Wednesday and run through Saturday, April 13, with all items available for bidding on SCPAuctions.com. Collectors and enthusiasts alike are sure to find treasures to pique their interest in this exciting event.
