MLS Scores Big with 2024 Topps Chrome Debut Patch Cards

Major League Soccer has stepped up its game in the trading card world with the introduction of the 2024 Topps Chrome Debut Patch Cards, emulating the excitement seen in Major League Baseball’s 2023 Topps Chrome Update. Released on December 4, this new set has sent collectors into a frenzy, especially with the recent unveiling of a coveted card featuring Hugo Lloris.

In an exhilarating turn of events on December 7, Andy Wert, located at E and J Boutique in Brooklyn, NY, opened a hobby box of the latest MLS product and discovered a redemption card for Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch Card. Lloris, a renowned goalkeeper who led France to a World Cup victory in 2018 and holds the record for the most appearances for the French national team, made his MLS debut this year with Los Angeles FC. This significant milestone has made his Debut Patch Card a prized possession for fans and collectors alike.

Priced at a reasonable $120, the hobby box offers two chrome autographs per box, but it is the redemption for Hugo Lloris’s card that has stolen the spotlight as one of the most sought-after pulls in the set.

The 2024 MLS Topps Chrome release marks a breakthrough for MLS trading cards with its debut of Debut Patch Cards, featuring authentic jersey patches from players’ first MLS appearances. Among the 35 Debut Patch Cards included in the set are notable names like Luis Suárez, Emil Forsberg, and Federico Redondo, adding a touch of global stardom to the collection. Hugo Lloris’s card, in particular, stands out as a prized possession, blending his illustrious international career with his recent transition to Major League Soccer.

While the secondary market has seen prices of $400 for MLB’s 2023 Topps Chrome Update hobby boxes, the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome product remains an affordable option at $120 per box. With sought-after Debut Patch Cards of stars like Suárez and Forsberg still up for grabs, soccer enthusiasts have the chance to chase after a remarkable piece of history.

By introducing Debut Patch Cards, MLS trading cards have expanded their appeal and solidified their presence in the collector community. By showcasing international players and commemorating their MLS debuts, the league has tapped into a growing demand for unique memorabilia among fans and collectors alike.

As the collecting community eagerly unwraps packs of the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome, the buzz surrounding these cards continues to grow. With Hugo Lloris’s pull making waves, enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the emergence of the next iconic card in this exciting lineup.
